Last year when the rest of the world was bestowing adoration and praise upon us for Canada’s financial system stability, we here at home were waiting for the fuss and bother to pass. Conservative Canadians did not expect our way of life to shine on the world stage for very long, but for the second year in a row, Canada has been given the number one spot on the global financial stage.
Canadian banks have always been cautious, with strict lending guidelines and cautious savings rates, our bankers are always looking closely at the bottom line. You can always spot the Canadian financial institution because they stubbornly refuse to be bullied into an over the top rate war if they don’t have the revenue to back it up. No government bailouts required to keep our banks running.
Initially, we thought all this attention was a fluke, however, holding the number one spot for the second year in a row just proves that our polite little country is independently strong, rather than a northern version of the United States.
