Re/Max Wages War Against Part Time Agents
One cannot say that the real estate profession is boring. First the Canadian Real Estate Association is locked in a battle with the Competition Bureau over MLS listings and now Re/Max is waging war against part-time real estate agents.
Re/Max, which is one of Canada’s largest real estate firms, launched an advertising campaign in the Greater Toronto Area that read: Warning! Don’t use a part-time Agent.
Michael Polzer, head of Re/Max Ontario-Atlantic Canada, would like to see stricter requirements for agents including more education and a one-year apprenticeship program, amongst other changes.
Re/Max’s competitors feel that Polzer’s business model is an attempt to eliminate smaller agents and that some agents who are part-time can be better performers than some who are full-time.
Buying a home is the biggest personal transaction you’re likely to make in your lifetime. Do you think Re/Max is right? Would you use a part-time agent?
