iBidBroker – Getting Real Estate Agents to Come to You

3 June 2010

Let Real Estate Agents Come to You

Real estate agents have had a difficult time lately, namely their current issues with the Competition Bureau over access to the Multiple Listing Service. Now a recently launched web site will allow home sellers to let agents bid for their listing, which may potentially lower commissions.

iBidBroker.com is the brainchild of realtor Ajay Jain, who said that the recent changes in the real estate industry were partially the reason for the idea, he ultimately felt that realtors’ current way of getting customers needed to be modernized.

On the website, sellers fill out a no-charge questionnaire: the home is posted on the site and real estate agents can make formal offers to list the property. Then sellers can pick an agent and go from there. The seller can decide to pick an agent on several factors, such as commission rate, experience or expertise.

It’ll be interesting to see if agents go for the $30 price tag. What’s next? How about a similar site but for mortgage brokers?
