According to a new report released by the Conference Board of Canada, the most attractive cities to both foreign and Canadian migrants are:
- Calgary
- Waterloo
- Ottawa
- Vancouver
- St. John’s
- Richmond Hill.
The report analyzed 50 cities in Canada on over 40 categories including economy, health, environment, education, innovation and housing to compile the cities most attractive to “skilled workers and mobile populations”.
Surprisingly, Toronto and other cities in the Greater Toronto Area (Markham, Vaughan and Oakville) were ranked as being in the second-tier due to uninspiring results in the health and environment categories, namely the lack of family doctors and poor air quality.
Of course, these results are unlikely to cool the GTA’s hot housing market.
